Evolving over a period of years, these figures were first created out of scraps from other pots.   Because the first ones usually had a skull or bone pattern stamped upon the bodies, they were dubbed 'BoneGuys' by my KC Clay Guild friend Todd Scholtz. 
Originally all their heads would come off to reveal that the figure was actually a bottle
