I am drawn to Lesley's work because of pattern which one can in her surfaces...decals, & transfers on sculpted, architectural forms. I believe my favorites are the simple, tessellated tile-work.
Lesley creates other types of sculpture as well, wood, ceramic and metal among the media. In that vein she also creates public installations. She teaches at the Rhodes Island School of Design (RISD).
Her current work explores the resilience and power of nature by depicting adaptations of animals, idealized depictions in patterns and reuse of natural materials.
