OMG! This work is chock full of images and color. "Is there anywhere to rest my eye?" (personal joke). I love the sweet, girly forms contrasted by metal accents, the broken bits and creepy graphics...not to leave out the lettering referring to 'poison' or 'leeches'. Brilliant! Why didn't *I* think of that?
Hailing from the UK, Claire's work is handbuilt and press molded from actual Victorian ceramics. Her work is heavily influenced by Victorian design and Miss Havisham's Wedding Table in Dicken's novel 'Great Expectations'. She also uses transfers, slips, glazes and lusters on her textural surfaces.
As she states on her website, "each piece I have created is a spontaneous response to the reworking of ‘precious’ objects resulting in a sensory banquet."
DELICIOUS and YUMMY to be sure! Go see more of her work on her website: http://www.bakerart.org.uk/
