Hiromi's work makes me smile. I saw it for the first time in the Gallery at Crane Yard Clay. I wanted a piece so badly, but couldn't afford one. Then I heard she was leaving Crane Yard and her work was a little cheaper...it ALL had to go. I couldn't pass it up and now I am the proud owner of CRYING BABY, the seated girl on the 2nd row, far right.
Hiromi was born in Japan and attended school in the US, culminating with an MFA at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has also worked/taught in several residencies, among them, the Bray and the Center for Appalachian Craft.
Her emphasis is figurative and narrative ceramic art. Her work was chosen for the 2015 NCECA National Student Juried Exhibition. I have looked all over for info about her or her processes, but to no avail.
Let me know if you can find more info!
