Ooooooooo the translucency...the light! These pieces kind of take my breath away. especially the ones with color. I just cam upon these beautiful pieces...I had never, in my 40+ years in clay, head of this potter. Staffel is a master. I genuflect.

Staffel began his artistic career as a painter, eventually studying with storied painter, Hans Hoffmann in New York. While studying glassblowing in Mexico, he came upon Pre-Columbian ceramics and began working in stoneware. Inspired by the translucency of glass, he began working with porcelain, creating works that were so thin they were/are luminescent.
