While perusing through Google Images a few weeks ago I came across Julie's work. Thrown AND handbuilt (the method closest to my heart), she embellishes her work with images of nature in pastel colors. I've heard people say, 'stick a bird on it and people will buy it.' Perhaps that's true, but I like the way she illustrates said birds...and plants. Her forms are simple...simple enough to let the images take over the surface and draw you in.
Julie is a full time potter in North Carolina, with a BFA from East Carolina University, but spent time at the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in China and uses the mishima technique on all of her work.
