Ann is a multi-year participant in KC Clay Guild Teabowl National and she applied with some new work that is simply fantastic! Her accepted piece is the first in her gallery...simple, earthy colorful.
Her older work is also in her gallery. They are the carved, single colored, very delicate looking pieces.
She lives in Arvada, Colorado and is a member of the Arvada Ceramic Arts Guild.
It is hard not to like Ann Ruel's work...I love bird imagery. I also love the contrast between the clay body and the glazed areas.
Her latest work, seen here in her accepted piece (the first in her gallery), pays homage to the people in her life that have given her family traditions to build upon. She is a first time participant in Teabowl National.
Ann owns Little Street Pottery in Suffolk, VA. She handbuilds each piece and then hand draws each image and detail...detailed and colorful for 'mentor' birds and more crude/plain for the 'student' birds. http://littlestreetpottery.faso.com/#/
