This is Missouri native, Michael Ashley's third time in KC Clay Guild Teabowl National. HIs two accepted pieces are in the first row of his gallery. I love the free and layered surfaces of his work...Pollock-eseque!
He graduated from the School of the Ozarks, then did a one year residency at Tainan National University for the Arts. He earned an MFA from the Uni. of Mississippi, taught at Missouri State University, the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and Tyler School of Art Temple Uni. He and his wife are the owners of Ashley Pottery Studio in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Renee is a first time participant in Teabowl National. Her entries are first three teabowls in her gallery, with her accepted piece the first on the left. I love the yummy woodfired, carved surfaces that embellish the simple forms.
