This is Lauryn's second time in KC Clay Guild Teabowl National. Her entry for this year is the first in her gallery. Last years teabowl is to it's right. She creates wonderful, simple forms and lets the kiln gods create surfaces...organic, raw, with atmospheric blushes!
Lauryn's work is made primarily for Japanese and Chinese tea ceremonies. She also creates Asian inspired tableware and installation sculpture. YOU can visit her studio in Vermont or go to her webpage:
Layne is a first timer in Teabowl National and his teabowls are the first ones in his gallery. Like Lauryn, he is influenced by Japanese ceramics.
He throws and alters stoneware or porcelain, adds brushed slip, finger marks and glaze. Layne has been around pots his entire life, wedging clay for his dad and now a potter himself.
There were too many wonderful pots to place here, so go see more of them on his website!
