This is Gary's first time in KC Clay Guild Teabowl National with the first two teabowls accepted. His third entry is to the extreme right. I would say this a is a great rookie showing.
The textures on Gary's work are simply stunning...and if you follow me, I AM a texture junkie! I included a bit of his process here, but you HAVE to go to his website and see MORE! WOW!
A trained graphic designer and former ad-man, he abandoned the corporate life after 18 years in the biz for CLAY!
...and I love his life's motto: “If it’s not fun, don’t do it.”
This is a multi-year participant in TEABOWL NATIONAL and his accepted pieces are on the extreme left and right of the first row of his gallery. His surfaces are always lusciously glazed and very textural...and if you follow me, you know I love texture!
He is the Studio Manager Phoenix Fired Art in Joplin, Missouri. He received his BFA and MFa from Missouri State University and Kansas University, respectively.
His work is featured this month, August, in the 2017 Potter's Council calendar. He recently received the news that his 2018 NCECA proposal, 'Electric to Atmosphere' was accepted. Now I have to go to NCECA this year!!!
