I first saw Dganit's work in the KC Clay Guild TEABOWL NATIONAL in 2012. I immediately became a fan. Her accepted teabowl is show directly below.
Dganit's surfaces have changed quite a bit since KCCG TBN 2012...every artist evolves...changes. Her forms are still beautifully thrown, but her surfaces are more decorative, richer...freaking fabulous! I love the use of pattern, multiple colors...and black! It helps other colors pop.
She uses porcelain and stoneware and the mishima method to decorate her surfaces. The uses vinyl sign to mask her work and then apply underglazes. After bisque Dganit will often wax or latex resist areas before glazing.
I am assuming she right across the state from me, in the St. Louis area. She has work at one of favorite regional galleries, the Craft Alliance...also in St. Louis.
