Sooooooo yummy! At first I thought they are a bit like someone's else's work that I love and of which I own several pieces. Then I looked her up and she is from the UK. I love the animal imagery and the sgraffito work. J'adore! I think she is partial to cats as well. (MORE DOGS, please...and a Scotty, in particular!)
These pieces are actually created by a partnership...Vicki Lindo and Bill Brookes. They slip cast earthenware and then sgrafitto into underglaze These post are inspired by North Devon slipware produced in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Inspiration also comes from observing "the secret lives of pets and random creatures met on their way to work, a love of beautiful trees and clouds backlit by the ever changing Bideford [Devon] weather and the funny things that happen to them." I LOVE Devon, I should go and visit the next time I'm there!
[As I write I hear chirping in my fireplace...very appropriate, but what is going to jump out of my hearth??? Birds? Bunnies?]
